Macchialina, Miami’s stylish and beloved brick-walled trattoria, will be hosting an O.P.P. (Oysters, Pizza and Prosecco) summer series every Sunday beginning on June 4, 2017. For a limited time, savor Chef Mike Pirolo’s Sicilian pies for a little taste of Italy right here in South Florida.

Handmade by Pirolo and Chef de Cuisine Craig Giunta, Macchialina’s Sicilian Pies are uniquely prepared with Cinque Stagioni flour imported from Parma, Italy. The dough is made using 85% hydration and 72 hour fermentation. The high hydration and slow rise allows the chefs to craft the perfect pizza with light, airy dough and a thin, crispy, glass-like crust on the bottom.

Priced at $22 each, only a limited number of pies will be available each week, from traditional to 18-month-aged Prosciutto di Parma; sausage and peppers; and parmigiano and arugula. In addition to Macchialina’s pizza specials and robust a la carte dinner menu, guests can enjoy a half dozen oysters for $18 or a half dozen dressed oysters for $22 (selections will change weekly). Attended by community business leaders, the Gala receives scholarship funds and support from philanthropists whose donations help fund programming costs for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programs available at all the public schools in the City of Miami Beach. The IB Program helps develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills of students from age 3 to 19. In addition to this program, the Education Foundation is able to provide scholarships at the end of each school year to graduating seniors at Miami Beach Senior High School, and allocates a small portion on the grants to the Foundation’s Link Project, teachers also receive grants ranging from $300 – $1,000.

This year, the Chamber is honoring six distinguished pillars of the Miami Beach community with a magical affair gala for their continued commitment while also celebrating the success of Miami Beach and the business community. South Florida’s Taste of the Nation Raises More Than $68,000 to Help Feed Kids in Need

More Than 680,000 Meals Secured

On Friday, May 12, 2017, more than 1,000 charity-minded foodies gathered at Wynwood’s Soho Studios for the city’s premier culinary event for a cause – South Florida’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry®. The annual tasting event, which featured Miami-Dade and Broward county top chefs, sommeliers and mixologists, raised more than $68,000 to support No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America.

The 29th annual soirée was hosted by Y100’s Nick Pena and CBS4’s EMMY Award-winning reporter Lisa Petrillo with a special performance by nationally acclaimed music group, The Strumbellas. Maieli brings a broad knowledge of gourmet desserts and nine years of experience in the industry. As pastry chef of Beaker & Gray, he aims to please with artful, decadent treats.

Offered during dinner service, Sunday through Thursday from 6PM to 11PM, Friday and Saturday from 6PM to Midnight, sugar-fiends will have the opportunity to choose from an array of options. Priced at $11 each, the new dessert menu includes Chocolate Chip Cookie Donuts – served with frozen milk; Liquid Dulce de Leche – sweet cream ice cream and butter crumbs; Key Lime Parfait – coconut milk, key lime sherbet, and blue corn flakes; the Beaker Bar – cashew sable, dulce de leche, dark chocolate, vanilla cream; and the ridiculously yummy 7–Layer Chocolate – chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate.

Beaker & Gray is located at 2637 North Miami Avenue in Wynwood. Lunch is served Monday through Friday, Noon to 4PM; dinner is served Sunday through Thursday from 6PM to 11PM, and Friday and Saturday from 6PM to Midnight. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 4PM. Happy Hour is Monday through Friday, 4PM to 7PM & Monday through Thursday, 11PM to 2AM.
